After a machine reaches Online, anyone in your organization can deploy Pods on it. You use the same deploy flow you already use for Runpod cloud. The only difference is where you pick the GPU.

Requirements

  • At least one machine with the Online status. See Set up external compute.
  • Membership in the organization that owns the machine, with permission to deploy Pods. See Roles.

Deploy a Pod

1

Open the Pods page

In the Runpod console, make sure your organization is selected, then go to Pods and click Deploy.
2

Choose your external compute

In the GPU picker, find the External compute section. It lists the GPU types available on your organization’s online machines. Select the GPU you want.
3

Configure and deploy

Configure the rest of the Pod the way you normally would, including the template, storage, and environment variables. Then click Deploy. For details on each Pod setting, see Manage Pods.

How placement works

When you deploy on external compute, Runpod places the Pod on one of your organization’s online machines that matches the GPU you selected. Pods deployed on your machines stay within your organization. Other Runpod customers can’t deploy to them.

Track usage

The External compute page shows how many GPUs on your machines are in use, so you can see available capacity before you deploy.
